Class Action Regarding 2006 Volkswagen Jetta Electrical Problems

Class action description

A class action on behalf of owners of 2006 Volkswagen Jetta vehicles for which a wiring harness that goes from the body to the inside of the driver’s door is too short. This design defect causes the sleeves of the wires to crack which causes short circuits affecting electrical accessories and the electrical system.

Group description

All persons residing in Canada who are owners of Volwagen 2006 Jettas with VIN numbers from 1K_5M000001 to 1K_6M759703.

And

All persons residing in Canada who were owners of 2006 Volkswagen Jetta with a VIN number from 1K_5M000001 to 1K_6M759703 who incurred costs and/or suffered inconveniences linked to the wiring harness that goes from the body to the inside of the front left door of the car.

Chronology

February 10, 2011 : Motion to authorize the bringing of a class action;
August 8, 2012: Judgment approving the Notice to Members ;
November 5, 2012: Judgment approving a Settlement Agreement

The opting-out period expires January 13th, 2013.
The reimbursment claim period expires March 29th, 2013.
The extebded warraty on the Covered Part expires 8.5 years after the in service date of the vehicle, as long as the vehicule has not reached 165 000 km.
